While our hydration vessels are crafted from lab-certified, 99.6% pure virgin copper, we want our community to be fully informed about the engineering of our leak-proof caps. Because different lifestyles require different bottle designs, we utilize three distinct cap styles across our collections, each engineered with specific, food-safe sealing mechanisms.
Our Three Cap Designs:

1. The Outer-Threaded Cap (Standard Seal)
- How it works: This traditional cap screws over the outside neck of the copper bottle.
- The Materials: To ensure the vessel is completely leak-proof and to prevent the copper cap from grinding against the bottle, the interior of this cap features a highly durable, BPA-free, food-grade synthetic polymer seal and inner threading.
- Water Contact: The seal is tucked safely inside the threading mechanism, designed to sit entirely outside the primary water contact zone.

2. The Inner-Plug Cap (Silicone O-Ring)
- How it works: This seamless cap design fits directly inside the neck of the bottle.
- The Materials: This cap utilizes a pure, food-grade silicone O-ring to create an airtight vacuum seal. Silicone is a highly durable, non-toxic material that serves as the gold standard for zero-waste hydration, as it prevents leaks without shedding micro-particles.
- Water Contact: The silicone ring sits tightly against the copper neck, ensuring your water touches nothing but pure copper and food-safe silicone.

3. The Active Sipper Cap (Sports/Travel Design)
- How it works: Designed for active use, the gym, or travel, this cap features a functional flip-top or built-in drinking spout.
- The Materials: Because the complex internal valves and hinges of a sipper mechanism cannot be machined from soft copper without breaking, this specific cap style is constructed from a high-density, BPA-free engineered polymer.
- Water Contact: While water passes through the food-safe sipper mechanism when drinking, the water stored inside the main vessel rests entirely against the pure copper walls.
Why These Components are Necessary
- Leak Prevention: Pure copper is a relatively soft metal. A 100% copper-to-copper seal cannot be made airtight for travel and would result in continuous leaking.
- Preventing Metal Friction: Metal-on-metal threading causes heavy friction, which can create microscopic metal dust and ultimately destroy the integrity of the cap over time. Our sealing rings and functional threads act as a necessary barrier to ensure smooth, safe usage that lasts a lifetime.
